Between the Hedges (auth: Stephen Davison)
An extraordinary record of the last 40 years of road racing, bringing together iconic images of the races, bikes and riders by the world s number one roadracing photographer, Stephen Davidson. In over 150 pictures.
For over twenty years Stephen Davison has been taking breathtaking photographs that capture the heart and fire of the fastest sport in the world.
Between the Hedges celebrates Davison’s lifelong love affair with road racing, bringing together over 140 stunning photographs from his own work and from the archive of photographer Clifford McLean to tell the extraordinary story of the sport over the last forty years.
McLean’s photographs capture magical moments from the sixties and seventies: the championship days of the Ulster Grand Prix; the intense battles between the Armoy Armada and Dromara Destroyers; and evocative images from his ‘home’ race, the North West 200. Davison’s photographs take up the story with his own magic moments: the ongoing saga of the Dunlop dynasty; the thrill of the TT; the challenge and excitement of the Scarborough track; and the new golden era of Irish road racing as high-profile international riders, such as John McGuinness, Steve Plater and Bruce Anstey, take on local heroes on Irish soil.
Between the Hedges is also a celebration of photographing road racing and in this, his most personal book yet, Stephen Davison takes us behind the scenes, giving the reader a unique insight into his intense pre-race preparation and planning and into the luck, skill and emotion that are required to produce his extraordinary images.
Davison’s book is the perfect opportunity for fans to share in the thrill of two photographers who have captured some f the most wonderful moments in road racing history.
